Pialligo Farm Shop Cafe – Restaurant Review

From the vintage red phone booth to the cosy courtyard, the vibe may be rustic at Pialligo Estate’s latest venture but the food is reassuringly modern.
The Canberra institution’s newest opening (after Pialligo Fields – boasting the capital's first Gintonica bar – and Market Grill) rounds off an impressive paddock-to-plate enterprise with a retail space for its house jams, relishes, wines and olive oils. Dishes such as the Pialligo Smokehouse charcuterie platter, the cold and hot smoked salmon pick board or the roasted pumpkin, honey carrots, snow peas salad with miso dressing (below) make for languid shared lunches, while estate-made sausage rolls and gourmet toasties offer a quick fix for parents dropping kids at the adjacent The Possum Patch, where they discover the joy of home-grown produce. Offerings for little tummies include a “mini me” grazing board.
12 Beltana Road, Pialligo; (02) 6185 1926; open Wednesday-Sunday for breakfast, brunch and lunch.
