New York has The Plaza, Paris has The Ritz and London has The Dorchester. In Sydney? We have the Park Hyatt – a grand hotel that captures the spirit of the city in luxurious style. A curved façade and sandy tones are a nod to its hometown’s renowned beaches, while refined interiors do little to distract from an unbeatable harbour outlook.

Everything you’ve heard about the service is true – it’s warm, courteous and, most importantly, on the ball. Throw in a world-class spa, an elegant restaurant and a rooftop pool with 360-degree views spanning the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and city skyline and you have the makings of an iconic hotel.

Where is Park Hyatt Sydney?

Night view of the Opera House and Park Hyatt Sydney

If location is at the top of your priorities then it’s hard to beat the Park Hyatt. The hotel is in the Sydney CBD’s Rocks precinct, about 30 minutes drive from Sydney Airport or a 10-minute walk from Circular Quay train station.

What’s near Park Hyatt Sydney?

Some of Sydney’s biggest attractions, from the Opera House to the Museum of Contemporary Art, are a short stroll away, while Circular Quay’s ferry wharves can be reached in less than 15 minutes on foot, giving you easy access to the rest of the harbour. Tip: allow for extra walking time so you can pause and take in the atmosphere along the way.

Room types

King Room with Opera House Views, Park Hyatt Sydney

With clean lines, an earthy colour palette and dark timber accents, the rooms at Park Hyatt Sydney are pared-back and sophisticated. Floor-to-ceiling windows make the most of the hotel’s waterfront location, while plush robes, marble benchtops and deep baths mean ensuites make for a handsome oasis.

In fact, the hotel is the only in Sydney that has private balconies, which are the perfect place to kick your feet up and enjoy the sunrise (or sunset) over the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Our pick of the hotel’s 155 rooms and suites is the King Opera Deluxe which has not one but two private balconies offering uninterrupted views of Australia’s most famous landmark.

Restaurants and bars

Breakfast at Park Hyatt Sydney

From Friday to Sunday in the Living Room, executive sous chef Fuji Taukatelata has created an afternoon tea menu heroing local ingredients. Expect delicacies such as southern rock lobster rolls, yoghurt scones with strawberry gum jam and lemon myrtle meringue tarts, all served with Taittinger Champagne.

Just off the lobby you’ll find the Dining Room, the hotel’s intimate diner where you’ll start the day with a classic Australian-style breakfast – think ricotta pancakes with honey or soy-linseed toast with avocado, coriander and poached eggs. Order a flat white and enjoy sparkling harbour views from your table.

Chef James Viles holds the reins in the elegant Dining Room, presiding over a menu of refined Australian cuisine with a focus on locally sourced produce. Take in the soaring sails of the Opera House over a leisurely a la carte lunch or go all-in with a Chef’s Table Experience that includes chicken skin with dashi cream and trout roe, Murray cod with smoked bone broth and clams, and doughnuts with rhubarb jam and buttermilk gelato. The hotel’s wine list has been carefully curated by head sommelier Erick Tuesta and was given three glasses at the 2023 Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards. Meanwhile at The Bar they’ll gladly concoct one of Sydney’s best Martinis.

Travel for work

There are five plush spaces for hosting corporate events, each of them equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including iPad-controlled lighting and sound. A team of dedicated event managers will assist with organising your gathering, whether it be an intimate meeting or a business get-together.

Gym and spa

Park Hyatt Sydney Spa

There’s a rooftop pool and a 24-hour gym on the third floor, plus miles of running and walking trails in close proximity to the hotel (hello, Royal Botanic Garden). But the most indulgent drawcard is The Spa, which works with La Mer, a skincare brand coveted across the world for its luxurious bio-fermented formulas and homegrown NSW Blue Mountain’s brand iKOU. The Spa offers exclusive treatments such as the 90-minute La Mer Hydrating Facial that infuses the skin with the brand’s famed Miracle Broth, plus 45-minute facials and 90-minute massage rituals incorporating iKOU’s Australian organic skincare.
