Founded in 1849, Yalumba is Australia’s oldest family-owned estate. Evidence of their success in the winemaking world is in on show in the well-preserved heritage buildings and manicured grounds and of the estate. The Yalumba Wine Room reflects the heritage of the winery. Family history and artwork adorn the walls and an open fireplace creates a cosy atmosphere during the crisp Barossa winters. Yalumba is one of the few wineries in Australia where they make their own barrels and you can watch the coopers in action. Not that this is winery clinging to the past. Yalumba is constantly evolving and in the past decade has helped introduce Australians to new styles like viognier and tempranillo.
