G-Rough Hotel Rome – Hotel Review
There’s something incredibly authentic about G-Rough Rome, a 10-room boutique hotel near atmospheric Piazza Navona. It could be the interiors: after all, its oak ceilings, exposed beams, textured plaster walls and smattering of vintage furniture certainly give it a singular punch. Its setting, inside a 17th-century Roman bourgeois building on a snap-worthy Roman street in the historical centre, is another drawcard. It’s the feeling of being an insider in this ancient city, thanks to casual and cool staff, quiet views of the surrounding streets and the intimate layout of just two suites per floor, that really makes this a standout property. Read on for the full review.

Of the ten rooms, there are seven types, ranging from the Executive Suite with a mid-century writing desk, mini-SMEG fridge and more than enough space to spread out in the separate lounge area. The Pasquino Suites overlook the neighbouring namesake square and the Suite Apartment has a dining area, two bedrooms and a bathtub. In each, guests are treated to Malin & Goetz toiletries, coffee makers and smart TVs throughout.
Restaurants and bars
The bar is also the check in counter. It makes for a much more relaxed check in to have a glass of Prosecco pushed over to you while you scramble for your passport. Breakfast in bed? Ma, certo! Breakfast is served to your room; a tray of coffee, fresh pastries, bread, jam, butter and juice.
The Gallery Bar, on the ground floor, is the place for evening drinks — from local wines to signature cocktails — served until midnight.
Travel for work
Wi-fi is available throughout the hotel. There’s also the Sito Room, a lounge of sorts, where a kitchenette, comfy olive green velvet lounges and small dining tables that could easily fit a laptop and an afternoon macchiato.
Spa
There are no spa, gym or pool facilities here, but treatments can be arranged in your room on request.
Accessibility
